Cometan is a British autodidactic Astronic philosopher who solely authored the over one million word long philosophical treatise known as The Omnidoxy which subsequently founded the philosophy of Astronism within the wider Millettic/Astronic philosophical tradition. Cometan is also known for being the sole creator of the fictional detective character known as Jesse Millette and for being the writer of The Original Jesse Millette Series under the pen name Brandon Taylorian which is a series of twenty young adult fiction books that chronicle the life and adventures of Jesse and his associates.

Last book read:

The Future of Humanity: Terraforming Mars, Interstellar Travel, Immortality, and Our Destiny Beyond Earth by Michio Kaku

The book that changed your life:

Expanding Universe: Photographs from the Hubble Space Telescope by Owen Edwards

This book allowed me to book immersed in the cosmic realm from the relative comfort and safety seated at my own desk chair; it complimented my thoughts, beliefs, and theories about the nature, functionality, and meaning of The Cosmos and all its progeny and phenomena. As I philosophised about The Cosmos, gazing upon the astronomical magnificence concealed within this book inspired me to go beyond singular ideas and to expand them into new directions and dimensions just as The Cosmos does expand. This book, amongst others, aided me in my philosophical journey through The Cosmos for although the words in this book are few, the glorious images truly do speak a thousand words, or in the case of The Omnidoxy, over one million words.

Your favorite literary character:

The American mystery detective, Nancy Drew, continues to be my favourite literary character due to the fact that she is one of the main inspirers for The Original Jesse Millette Series. The era in which her character was born seemed and continues to seem so magical, idillic, and paradisiacal; Nancy’s life was so exciting, she always seemed to have friends in different countries and in the most interesting of circumstances, she would stumble upon a mystery to solve. I have reflected this same ideality in the Jesse Millette character through the process of world-building whilst also making the Jesse stories relevant to today’s world and to the philosophy of Astronism.

Currently working on:

The development and subsequent establishment of the philosophy of Astronism through founding The Institution of The Philosophy of Millettism which will manage and hold proprietorship over the philosophy of Astronism. In addition to this, the dissemination of all parts of The Omnidoxy is a priority for me along with the completion of The Original Jesse Millette Series.

Words to live by:

“To fix internal woes, love externally.” – Cometan, The Omnidoxy

“I believe my biggest fear is to live a life of normality.” – Cometan, The Omnidoxy

“My faith is strongest when the night sky is clear.” – Cometan, The Omnidoxy

“Do what is unexpected of you.” – Cometan, The Omnidoxy

Advice to new and aspiring authors:

To be an author is to be an artist which is to be on a lifelong journey of reflection, imagination, creation, and accomplishment; my advice to aspiring authors, after learning this myself, is not to live for your work, but to live through it. Essentially, don’t work so as not to live, but instead live so as to work. The work that I do for the writing of the Omnidoxy has become intertwined with the other elements of my life; my work life and my personal life are as one and so there does not exist a constant fight for triumph over either of them. My advice is to stick to your ambitions, but not so much that you don’t live an interesting life because when you are long buried, people will be just as interested in learning about who you married, where you travelled, and the tragedies that occurred during your life as they are interested in your successes.
