Jessica Jackson has been writing since she was nineteen. She thought she was going to be a science fiction writer, but could never seem to come up with a decent idea. Her youngest sister reminded her of the years when she used to read romances every day and suggested that she switch genres. Well, she’s never looked back—particularly when she realized every genre could be found within the romance genre—there are sub-genres within sub-genres. Wherever her imagination takes her, she can create a romance story. Thank goodness for her youngest sister’s suggestion.

The book that changed your life:

I cannot say that there is a single book that changed my life. Rather, it was an author. Barbara Cartland. I used to read her books in high school. There was a large collection at our school library and I used to read one of her books every other day. On alternate days, I would read science fiction-fantasy. Andre Norton was a favorite. Isaac Asimov. Larry Niven. Anne McCaffrey. These books changed my life because it was in high school that I decided to become a writer.

Currently working on:

A Witch For Mr. Darcy—a Pride and Prejudice variation.

Words to live by:

It is our expectations that lead to our greatest disappointments. Let others be themselves, instead of trying to make them fit your idea of them. You will be happier and so will they.

Advice to new and aspiring authors:

Put your butt in the chair and write, write, write. Persevere until you are finished, then edit, edit, edit. Don’t give up.
