The book that changed your life:

How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World by Harry Browne. This bestseller of many years offers deep insights on how to find personal freedom without taking it from or harming others. For any writer, personal freedom is essential. In a way, all art is about it.

Your favorite literary character:

I don’t have one. But I do like some of my own, specifically Pono, hero of the Pono Hawkins series. He’s like an old friend, someone you trust and listen to, but who doesn’t always do what you want, or what you think is good for him. He’s inexplicable and loveable, so my readers say.

Currently working on:

A trilogy set in the 1960s.

Words to live by:

“Life is magical and mysterious. Be grateful and never take it for granted.”

Advice to new and aspiring authors:
