People always ask me what my writing “process” is. If they knew, they wouldn’t believe me, most times it involves just sitting alone and listening to my own thoughts. Rrely does it ever involve me sitting in front of a blank screen on my computer; if I’m typing, it is already written, I am just transcribing the pages in my head.

About 90 percent of what I write has been written in my dreams and that is because I spend about 90 percent of my time thinking about writing. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, most are just random occurrences and rather than keeping my thoughts and opinions about these to myself, I share them with you. Writing takes practice and I will always consider myself a student of writers, as should you. If you’re going to study the craft of writing, study from the best! Today we revisit some #WednesdayWisdom for writers from some of the most prolific writers of all time.  Perhaps this will encourage those of you who write or want to rite or may consider entering the BookTrib contest for writers:

width=“If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
Stephen King

width=“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
― Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath

width=“The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it. ” ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

width=“Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it. Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window.” ― William Faulkner

width=“Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.”
― Nathaniel Hawthorne

width=“When a poet digs himself into a hole, he doesn’t climb out. He digs deeper, enjoys the scenery, and comes out the other side enlightened.” ― Criss Jami

width=“You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” ― Ray Bradbury

width=“The role of a writer is not to say what we can all say, but what we are unable to say.”
― Anaïs Nin

width=“Make up a story… For our sake and yours forget your name in the street; tell us what the world has been to you in the dark places and in the light. Don’t tell us what to believe, what to fear. Show us belief’s wide skirt and the stitch that unravels fear’s caul.” ― Toni Morrison

width=“To write well, express yourself like the common people, but think like a wise man.”
― Aristotle

width=“If a writer stops observing he is finished. Experience is communicated by small details intimately observed.” ― Ernest Hemingway
