The other day on a whim I decided to watch the first episode of Fox’s new show, Pitch. And OMG I haven’t stopped watching since. Full of strong women, sizzling chemistry and a romance that I’m already rooting for, Pitch is the sports show we all need in our lives right now. It’s also reminding me of how much I love great sports-themed romances!

Luckily for me (and you too!) athlete heroes are all the rage these days, dominating the New Adult and contemporary romance shelves. From the six-pack abs to the never-ending capacity for sport puns, these sexy stories are almost always a home run. #SorryNotSorry

Here are 10 recent sports-themed romances that are most definitely hitting it out of the park:

Rushing In, Lexi Ryan (CreateSpace, August 30, 2016)

rushing in sports-themed romances

After devouring the first book in Ryan’s Blackhawk Boys series, Spinning Out, I knew I needed to get my hands on the sequel ASAP. I’m currently halfway through Grace and Chris’ story and I can barely put it down. College Quarterback Chris is sexy and sweet and he knows he shouldn’t be falling for his sassy new stepsister. But their complicated past and incredible chemistry just can’t be denied. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

Pucked Under, Helena Hunting (EverAfter Romance, October 10, 2016)

pucked under sports-themed romances

Hunting’s beloved Pucked series is five books and counting. In her latest, we return to the love story of Randy and Lily who first get together in book 3 in the series, Pucked Over. Now they’re back, but with the NHL season starting and Randy’s father showing up unexpectedly, their happily-ever-after is getting majorly tested. Still, there’s a lot of sexy love between the two, as well as a lot of puck puns to throw around.

The Goal, Elle Kennedy (Create Space, September 26, 2016)

the goal sports-themed romances

Part of Kennedy’s Off-Campus series, The Goal focuses on Sabrina James and hockey star John Tucker. Both college students, Sabrina knows exactly how her life will play out — until a steamy encounter with John changes that future forever. Will she have to give up on her dreams? Or will she find a new life with the sweet and charming John?

Touching Down, Nicole Williams (October 6, 2016)

touching down sports-themed romances

I love a good loved-each-other-as-kids-now-we’re-back-together storyline, which is why I can’t wait to start reading Williams’ latest sexy sport romance. Ryan Hale and Grant Turner loved each other as children, but then Ryan disappeared from Grant’s life. Now he’s a star football player, beloved by millions and known as The Invincible Man. But when Ryan comes back into his life, Grant has to decide if he’s willing to put his trust back into the woman who broke his heart.

Silver-Tongued Devil, Rosalind James (November 15, 2016)

silver-tongued devil sports-themed romances

Both Dakota Savage and Blake Orbison are damaged in their own ways. Dakota has never completely healed from her past, or from the prejudice she faces in their small town. Blake’s career is over thanks to a knee injury, and he’s convinced that he needs a sophisticated wife to raise kids with. Neither thinks the other is what they’re looking for, but of course they’re both completely wrong. If you can’t get enough of Dakota and Blake’s love story, have no fear: this is just the start of a new series by James, called Portland Devils.

Written in the Scars, Adriana Locke (Umbrella Publishing Inc, October 18, 2016)

written in the scars sports-themed romances

Locke has crafted a charming second-chance romance between Elin and Ty Whitt. The two fall in love as teenagers, when Ty is a high school basketball star and the sky is their limit. But life gets in the way as they grow older, and when Ty walks out after an argument, Elin is left to question everything they have together. This book is an intimate portrayal of marriage, promises and what comes after the happily-ever-after.

Catching Fireflies, Terri E. Laine (October 27, 2016)

catching fireflies sports-themed romances

College students Chance Abbot and Brie Holloway had their shot at a relationship, but when Chance ran out of fear, Brie was left heartbroken. After watching his best friend find love, Chance wants another, well, chance with the woman he could never forget. But Brie is determined to keep her distance, forcing Chance to get a little creative in his courtship.

Incredible You, Lili Valente (CreateSpace, October 24, 2016)

incredible you sports-themed romances

Jake Falcone is a famous NHL star, known as “The Dragon” both on the ice and off. Shane Willoughby is the kind of woman who knows what she wants and is tenacious enough to go after it. But when she’s hired by Magnificent Bastard Consulting to pretend to be Jake’s girlfriend, each member of the fake relationship starts to see the other in a new light. Pretty soon the line between client and boss is getting (very sexily) blurred.

How to Date a Douchebag, Sara Ney (September 13, 2016)

how to date a douchebag sports-themed romances

Jameson Clarke is a strong student, determined to stay away from anything that can distract her – and that includes jerks and douchebags. Unfortunately, Sebastian Osbourne just happens to be the biggest douchebag jock on campus, and he’s decided he wants James to be his. The two enter into a chemistry-filled push/pull dance that’s endlessly entertaining to read.

The Player, Claire Contreras (October 8, 2016)

the player sports-themed romances

Warren Silva is the world’s hottest soccer player, used to getting any girl he wants. When he meets Camilla Avilla, he decides he most definitely wants her. But Camilla has no idea who Warren is; she only knows that their worlds are way too different to make a relationship work. Warren isn’t giving up, especially not on a woman who truly sees him beyond the fame and the money. Still, it’ll be an uphill battle to win the fight for Camilla’s heart.
