In the ever-escalating celebrity book deal game, it’s hard to keep track of what great books we have to look forward to these days. Today, high-profile book deals seem to be the next step in further developing a celebrities brand. So in the spirit of helping all of you celeb memoir gobblers stay organized, here’s a quick roundup of book deals that were nailed down in the past week!
On February 11, New Jersey rock god Bruce Springsteen nabbed a $10 million deal with Simon & Schuster to pen his autobiography. The book, perfectly titled Born to Run, will feature Springsteen’s recollections on growing up and the rise of the E Street Band. “Writing about yourself is a funny business,” wrote Springsteen in a brief excerpt from Born to Run. “But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.” The book is expected to be released on September 27, 2016.
FOX News anchor Megyn Kelly also snagged a book deal this week on February 5. Her deal with HarperCollins, which some have reported to be worth as much as $10 million, is expected to produce a book that’ll be released this fall, just in time for the Presidential election. Kelly, who has been in the news more than ever lately due to her hard-nosed Republican debate moderating, will write a memoir that one HarperCollins exec said, “is bound to be one of the most read and talked about books of the fall.”
Finally, Kelly Clarkson announced a deal with HarperCollins Children’s Books to write River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, which centers on Clarkson’s own daughter, River Rose. Clarkson tweeted the exciting announcement on February 9 to her 10.7 million followers.
