Indie Books: Why We’re Still Obsessing Over These 3 Book Series

God bless Amazon self-publishing. I’ve discovered so many amazing romance novels through the Kindle store—novels that may have started out as indie series, but they quickly rose to fame with teams of dedicated readers and fans. And I totally get the appeal: while traditional romance series tend to jump from isolated couple to couple, these indie series stay with our favorites for several books, creating rich worlds of friends and lovers that stay with you long after you stop reading.

Here are my three all-time favorite indie series and why you will love them just as much as I do:

The Beautiful Disaster Series by Jamie McGuire

beautiful-disaster-jamie-mcguireThe story of Travis Maddox and Abby Abernathy—the first in this family-centered series—is insanely popular, and for good reason. Abby is a good girl with a secret past and Travis is a bad boy covered in tats, super possessive and fighting hard to win Abby’s heart. He has some missteps along the way, but his devotion and love just leap off the page. While not specifically a series, the other books that follow, including a novel from Travis’s POV and two novella’s, are just as fantastic. Plus, once you finish those, you’re going to want to read The Maddox Brothers series which follows Travis’s equally hot brothers as they find love of their own. If you’re a romance fan, then every one of these books are must-reads. #Swoon

The Between the Lines Series by Tammara Webber

The first book, Between the Lines, sets the stage, so to speak, by following actress Emma Pierce on the set of her first big movie. Bad boy and mega-star Reid is after her from the start, but she’s strangely drawn to the more sensitive and mysterious actor, Graham. The series follows the different stars as they navigate fame, real life and falling in love. It’s not easy to do movie star books well, but Webber nails it from the start.

The Rock Chick Series by Kristen As

rock-chick-kristen-ashleyOh, how I love Kristen Ashley. Her alpha men and sassy heroines are always perfectly written and hot, hot, hot when they finally start making out (it never takes long, trust me). The Rock Chick books are a series of eight novels with eight different couples, though don’t worry—the others are always around, wrecking havoc, getting married and making babies. My favorite is still the first one, starring Indy Savage and her badass beau Lee Nightingale. Indy values her independence and initially fights her feelings for Lee. He doesn’t have much patience for it, and makes sure she’s in his bed every night—which she doesn’t protest much. Their push-pull is delicious, wild and fun, and sets the tone for this entire hilarious series.
