If you’re a cat owner you know that you don’t need a specific day to treat your cat like they’re royalty. Every day in a household that has one or more four-legged furry creatures, is Cat Day. I, for one, can say that my 1-year-old Astoria, who I rescued from underneath a car on a rainy night when she was just 6 weeks old, certainly doesn’t need yet another day where I pamper her, treat her like she can do no wrong, give her kisses and run around chasing her through the house. These cats know they’re loved because they’re a part of our families.
Alas, October 29 is upon us and we’re celebrating National Cat Day. So when you go home after work, give your kitty a little extra cat nip, spend those extra five minutes before bed playing with him/her and if they want to jump on the counter, say “Oh, go for it.” It’s their day after all!
I’m sure there are those of you who can’t have cats in your home. You’re either allergic, deathly allergic or that mean landlord/landlady won’t allow you to have pets. So, for the next best thing, I suggest you check out Jim Tews’ Felines of New York: A Glimpse into the Lives of New York’s Feline Inhabitants (Simon & Schuster, November 24, 2015) when it releases next month. It’s chock full of kitties who love life, have a lot to say and are learning how to live the New York life. Plus, they’re all adorable. So there’s that.
Whether you have a kitty waiting for you to come home tonight, or you just love to watch fun videos of cats (because there are some hilarious ones out there), we’ve compiled a few of our favorite videos from around the web. You’re welcome.

Women Who Still Love Cats Too Much, Allia Zobel Nolan, Cartoons by Nicole Hollander (HCI Books, 2015)
This adorable and “hiss-terical” book is for every woman who can just never get enough of that sweet little pink nose, those round green eyes and the whiskers that go on for days. Women Who Still Love Cats Too Much is a look at the struggles that those who love cats a bit excessively face on a daily basis. And trust us, that struggle is real.
