Authors typically struggle for years to get their work read and noticed. On this episode of Novel Concept, host Rachel Carter talks with author Matthew Di Paoli about struggling to get published and the years of rejection letters they both accumulated. Di Paoli was nominated for the 2014 Pushcart Prize and won the 2015 Prism Review Short Story Contest. He just had his first novel published with El Balazo books, called Killstanbul, and his work has appeared in CURA, Blue Penny Quarterly, Litro, and more.
Rachel Carter grew up surrounded by trees and snow and mountains. She graduated from the University of Vermont and Columbia University, where she received her MFA in nonfiction writing. She is the author of the So Close to You series with Harperteen. These days you can find her working on her next novel in the woods of Vermont.
