Alex Dolan was raised in Boston, lived in New York City, and currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to writing for several publications, he has recorded four music albums, and has a master’s degree in strategic communications from Columbia University. The Euthanist is his first novel.

Alison McMahaon

Allen Eskens

Allen Eskens, the author of The Life We Bury, is a successful criminal defense attorney who writes engaging mysteries with a literary edge. He studied creative writing in the M.F.A. program at Minnesota State University, Mankato and currently lives quietly in the country outside of Mankato, Minnesota.

Bryan Robinson
Bryan Robinson is a novelist and licensed psychotherapist. His award-winning thriller, Limestone Gumption: A Brad Pope and Sisterfriends Mystery (Five Star Publishing, 2014), is a nail-biting Southern murder mystery and winner of the 2014 Beverly Hills Book Award for Best Mystery.  Christine Carbo, The Wild Inside

Christine Carbo

Christine Carbo grew up in Florida, until she moved to Montana, when she was twelve. After earning a pilot’s license, pursuing various adventures in Norway, and a brief stint as a flight attendant, she got an MA in English and taught courses at a community college. She still teaches in a vastly different realm as the owner of a Pilates studio. She lives in Montana with her husband, three kids, one self-possessed cat and one incredibly silly dog. Her suspense novel, The Wild Inside, came out in June of 2015 from Atria Books/Simon & Schuster.

 David Swatling, Caluin’s Head

David Swatling

David Swatling grew up in New York, studied theatre, and moved to Amsterdam in 1985. He produced arts & culture documentaries for Radio Netherlands and is three-time winner of the NLGJA Excellence in Journalism Award, among other international honors. He continues to write about the arts and LGBTQ issues from Amsterdam and elsewhere.

 Douglass Seaver, The Fourth Rule

Douglass Seaver

Douglass Seaver is the author of the highly praised nonfiction book, Four Across the Atlantic, and the award winning short story, The Auction. His latest book is The Fourth Rule, an international suspense novel. He is a graduate of the two-year online Stanford Certificate Program in Creative writing. He and his wife, the painter Cheryl Seaver, live in Essex, CT.

Eileen magill

Eileen’s interests have taken her on a wild, winding road, from criminal justice to paranormal investigations, martial arts, occupational safety, teaching, and dog walking, too. Her love of animals was evident when she gave successful CPR to her iguana. She lives on the west coast with her dogs and family.

 Gwendolyn Womack, The Memory Painter

GWENDOLYN WOMACK

Originally from Houston, Texas, Gwendolyn Womack began writing plays in college while freezing in the tundra at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She went on to receive an MFA from CalArts in Directing Theatre, Video & Cinema. Currently she resides in Los Angeles with her family and is working on her next novel.

M. Maitland Deland, M.D., Nashville Mercy

Maitland deland

M. Maitland DeLand, M.D. is the author of Nashville Mercy, the first book in her Kate Katelinson murder mystery series. She also authored several children’s books collections, including The Great Katie Kate books which educate children about medical conditions.

Maria Alexander, Mr. Wicker

Maria Alexander’s short stories have appeared in publication since 1999. Her debut novel, Mr. Wicker, was released by Raw Dog Screaming Press in September 2014, and won the 2014 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel. When she’s not wielding a katana at her Shinkendo dojo, she’s being outrageously spooky or writing Doctor Who filk. She lives in Los Angeles with two ungrateful cats and a purse called Trog. Matt Cook, Sabotage

Matt Cook

Matt is the author of SABOTAGE, which he wrote at 19 while an undergraduate at Stanford. There he also published two nonfiction books and cofounded a nonprofit dedicated to government transparency. A professional close-up magician trained at the Hollywood Magic Castle, he has performed in over 90 countries, and enjoys weaving exotic locales into his stories. Matt is now a doctoral candidate in Economics at Penn. He enjoys music, scuba, and Latin dancing for fun.

Sherry Knowlton, Dead of Autumn

Sherry Knowlton is the author of Dead of Autumn. A second novel in the Alexa Williams series, Dead of Summer, will be released in early summer 2015. When not working on her health care consulting business or traveling around the world, Knowlton lives in the mountains of South Central Pennsylvania.

My publisher has committed to releasing Dead of Summer prior to the conference.  I have supplied information for the bookstore.  So, I don’t know if this should be amended to reflect that?  If so, this is an alternate short bio.

Stu Strumwasser studied creative writing at Cornell University and went on to pursue dual careers on Wall Street and as a musician. In 2006 Stu left Wall Street and founded Snow Beverages to make natural soda. Stu then co-founded Tengrade in 2011. Stu was born in Queens, raised in Lynbrook, and now resides in Brooklyn, New York.  The Organ Broker is his first published novel.

Susan Philpott holds a Master’s degree in both Science and Social Work.  She has worked as a university teaching assistant, zoo-keeper and mental health professional.
