What’s the hottest thing in print? We’ve got the inside scoop!

On Thursday, our very own media maven Mea Stewart (aka The Bookish Diva) and I attended BookExpo America 2015 in New York’s immense Javits Center. Imagine all the movers and shakers in the book galaxy convening in one enormous space to bring book lovers the most exciting books and authors for 2015. We couldn’t let the opportunity pass without getting Shelfie Picks from people in the know, in this case Associate Publicist Patrick Scafidi of Workman Publishing and Supervising Librarian Sue Woody of the Des Moines Public Library. Here are the books that most excited them at BEA.

Didn’t have chance to write them down? Here are the books Patrick recommended:

Polar: A Photicular Book by Dan Kainen and Carol Kaufman (Workman Publishing)

1,000 Foods to Eat Before you Die: A Food Lover’s Life List by Mimi Sheraton (Workman Publishing)

BEA books

And here are Sue’s picks:

Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates (Spiegel & Grau)

The Courtesan by Alexandra Curry (Dutton)

BEA can wear your feet down to nubs, but oh, the joys of immersing yourself in the book galaxy! Take a peek:

Our own Bookish Diva discovered someone she was actually taller than — the famous Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

Mea & Marissa

Mea meets one of her favorite authors, the talented Marissa Meyer.
