Deck the halls with YA gifts

in Fiction by

It’s the holiday season and most of us are already knee-deep into gift buying. And while some people are fairly easy (hope you like that iTunes gift card again, Dad!), others can be a little more difficult.

Take fans of young adult novels for instance: it’s not always easy to predict the hottest books or best reader-inspired presents. But if you have a Twilight-loving, Hunger Games-obsessed person to shop for, have no fear. Whether they’re a teen or an adult, here are the perfect presents for the YA lover in your life:

My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories edited by Stephanie Perkins (St. Martin’s Griffin, 2014)

My True Love Gave to Me

This holiday-themed anthology includes stories by almost every famous YA author out there. No, seriously: Holly Black, Kelly Link, Gayle Forman, Rainbow Rowell, David Levithan…this is basically a “who’s who” of young adult fiction. And we’re not complaining. With so many amazing authors, this uber-romantic anthology is a must-read for any YA fan.

The Fault in Our Stars necklace:

The Fault in Our Stars

Want to make a YA fan start bawling (in a good way)? Give them this “Okay” necklace based on John Green’s popular novel. Every time we look at it, we can practically hear Augustus Waters whispering it to Hazel Grace. *sob!*

Divergent temporary tattoos:

Divergent

Channel your inner Tris with these awesome fake tattoos. They might not be permanent, but they will certainly make you feel like a Divergent when they’re printed on your collarbone.

Anne of Green Gables T-shirt:

Anne of Green Gables

We’re pretty much obsessed with Lithographs, an awesome new company that creates graphics out of classic novels using their original text. Not only do they make T-shirts, but also posters, tote bags, and temporary tattoos. Any YA lover would go nuts for this Anne of Green Gables tee—but whatever you do, don’t call those red braids carrots.

Hunger Games archery set:

Hunger Games

For that, uh, slightly older YA fan in your midst, why not give them the gift of self-protection? Should they ever find themselves in an actual Hunger Games, they just might be able to survive with a Katniss-style bow-and-arrow set.

Vicious: A Pretty Little Liars Novel by Sara Shepard (HarperTeen, 2014)

Pretty Little Liars

Vicious is the 16th book in the best-selling Pretty Little Liars series and most likely the last. Trust us: your YA fan is dying to know what finally happens to Spencer, Aria, Hannah, and Emily.

YA magnet set:

Magnet Set

YA lovers certainly know the value of book boyfriends and love triangles, which is why these adorably tongue-in-cheek magnets would make the perfect present.

Marauder’s Map infinity scarf:

Harry Potter

The Marauder’s Map might be one of the coolest parts of Harry Potter, and that’s saying something. We’d love to get our hands on a real marauder’s map, but having it printed on a scarf is the next best thing.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower print:

Perks of Being a Wallflower

Perks, by Stephen Chbosky, has become a modern YA classic, and for good reason. Any YA lover will recognize the final quote from the book—and swoon over this minimalistic print.

Suspicion by Alexandra Monir (Delacorte Press, 2014)

suspicion

This new release by Monir combines paranormal elements and romance in a fantastical retelling of the classic novel Rebecca. We can’t wait to get our hands on this mysterious tale—and we know any YA fan would feel the same.
