I just didn’t feel like reading for about a month. I recently started back reading. I have read A Trick of The Light by Louise Penney. It was a great read. It was about Clare and how a murder that occurs during her first art show changes her life in ways she never expected. All I Did Was Shoot My Man by Walter Mosley was the third in the…[Read more]

I just finished reading A Drop of the Hard Stuff by Lawrence Block. It was okay . The main character Matthew Scudder investigated the death of High-Low Jack Ellery who both grew up together in the same neighborhood. They were both recovering alcoholics. Matt is a former cop. The book is basically about AA and how the 12 steps might have…[Read more]

I like to go to the library to get my books. I used to read Stephen King all the time. Then one day long time ago, my husband order some book catalogs and that is when I discovered a lot of authors I haven’t read before and thats all it took. Most of the time, I go to the library and read the inside of the jacket. I usually find an author I…[Read more]

It is about a soon to be bride who disappears on her wedding day. All kinds of secrets comes out about each of the family members and the wedding guess. Favorite Books 1 year, 3 months agoI just finished 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. Great read. He can tell a good story. Even though this book was 924 pages, it is not boring. It keeps you interested until the end. I also read Shockwave by John Sandford. This was a Virgil Flowers book. It was good too.

I’m very interested in reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. The only reason I haven’t bought it yet is that I have a few piles of other books waiting to be read. When I read a five-star book, I post a review here. When I get through my piles, I’ll start buying more books.

i read this (1Q84) from the local library. definitely engaging, and i barely noticed the… 924.. pages.

Hi,
I just finished reading 1Q84. It was a great book. It was strange and weird. I really enjoyed it. Aomame and Tengo feel in love when they were 10 yrs old. He was a math prodigy and she belonged to the Witnesses. They both did what their parents did. Her mother would go door to door giving out pamplets with Aomame in tow, while Tengo’s…[Read more]In reply to - lolgal5 posted an update in the group Favorite Books I am now reading 1Q84. I’m anxious to hear what you think of that book. It has lots of good reviews, but I want to know what a real reader thinks.
I believe that author also wrote THE WINDUP BIRD CHRONICLES, which, to be honest, bored me. I’m not big on books that are translations, I guess.

Here’s the thing, though. I’m not crazy about Michael Crichton books. I like the author, but I don’t like his books (except his appendix in STATE OF FEAR).
The reason I want to read this is that the other author of this book is Richard Preston. Preston’s books that I’ve read are exceptionally good. It’s because he finished MICRO after…[Read more]
