In 2007, Kim Hvidkjaer was a millionaire, but two years later, he had lost more money than the average American earns in a lifetime. While not ideal, the experience offered him the opportunity to assess his company’s failures and map out how to avoid similar mistakes in the future. His book, How to F*ck Up Your Startup, is the culmination of that evaluation and aims to help other startups navigate a minefield of common blunders.
In this interview, Hvidkjaer discusses some of his own failures and approaches to business ventures, his take on the mistakes of other companies, such as Spotify and Theranos, and reflects on the world of startups throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
