What do Steve Berry, Diana Gabaldon, Andrew Gross, Brad Meltzer, Jon Land and Elin Hilderbrand know that you don’t? They know that BookTrib’s Live Chats are a terrific way to connect with readers on a whole new level!

WHAT  IS A BOOKTRIB LIVE CHAT?

A BookTrib Live Chat is an intimate online gathering where readers mingle with their favorite authors. It’s casual, fun and spontaneous!   The hour long video chat is facilitated using LiveStream, recorded, and then posted on BookTrib and YouTube.

HOW IS THE LIVE CHAT PROMOTED?

The Meryl L. Moss Media publicity team is what makes our Live Chats so successful.  Each Live Chat is promoted to thousands of readers, booklovers, and members of the media.

Once the date and time for the event is scheduled, our designers create a digital invitation, a Facebook announcement, and a widget for BookTrib’s front page used to promote the event several weeks in advance.

A landing page is created for each author and contains a bio, synopsis of the book, a book trailer, recent media coverage, links to the author’s social media profiles, links to purchase the book, as well as full details about the chat and an opportunity to RSVP and request a reminder.

Our publicists reach out to hundreds of bloggers with an invitation to the event and seek partners to help spread the word.

All Live Chats are promoted in our weekly BookTrib newsletter, which goes to thousands of subscribers.

BookTrib Live Chats have anywhere from 45 to 700 participants.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

All the author needs is a computer with a camera and microphone.

We have developed easy, step-by -step instructions to help the author prepare for the Live Chat. We also schedule a run-through with the author a few days before the event so we can go through the run of show, adjust the monitor tilt, lighting, and sound.

Although not required, we have found that the audience enjoys watching the author from where they actually write.   It’s not necessary to tidy up stacks of paper or keep the dog out of the room – readers love getting a sneak peek into the writer’s life.

Using an easy-to-use “chat” function, attendees submit written questions, which are then moderated by a BookTrib team member and fed to the author at a comfortable pace.   Authors then read each question aloud and respond verbally.

At the end, the moderator will randomly select 10-audience members to win a copy of the book.

The chat is recorded, lightly edited, and posted on BookTrib.com and YouTube within 24 hours. The author can use the video for any promotional opportunities.

WHAT DOES THE AUTHOR OR PUBLISHER NEED TO DO?

  1. Set the date for the one-hour event as soon as possible.  Slots fill up quickly.
  2. Schedule the 15-minute run-through for a few days prior to the event.
  3. Send the following to BookTrib:
  4. High-resolution image of book and author
  5. Press Release
  6. Author Q&A
  7. BookTrailer (if available)
  8. Ship 10-copies of the book to BookTrib.
  9. Links to the author’s social media pages
  10. Links to recent media coverage

Sit back and relax — we do the rest!
