Shanel holds a degree in journalism from Howard University, where she attended because of literary heroes and alumni of the university, Toni Morrison and Zora Neale Hurston. She works in public relations, where her writing tells the story of organizations through strategy. In her spare time, Shanel reads and reviews loads of awesome books, hosts Progressionista, a book club program for Detroit youth and does plenty of pretty craft projects!
