I can’t say I passed Divination with flying colors, but…is that a sequel I see in the tea leaves? Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Harry Potter movies, recently expressed his interest in directing a Harry Potter sequel. According to Entertainment Weekly, Columbus dreamed of directing all of the Harry Potter films originally, but it didn’t work out because of the time it took away from his family (he’s a stand-up guy). In the interview he was quoted saying that he would love to direct a Harry Potter film separate from Fantastic Beasts. Specifically, he wants to work with the characters of Harry, Ron and Hermione again. He also emphasized that the final film ends 19 years in the future and that there are many more stories to tell within that time. What happened during those 19 mysterious years? We might never know (unless Columbus decides to pick J.K. Rowling’s brain about it). For now we can only speculate. Here, the BookTrib Nerd Squad shares its thoughts on what we would like to see in the Harry Potter sequel:

Sophia: I’m wondering about the weddings of Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny. Was it like, a joint wedding situation? Did Ginny and Hermione have a raucous bachelorette party? I imagine it would be like Magic Mike, but with more, well, magic.

Amanda: I want Hedwig to come back to life as a vengeful, fiery phoenix.

Joel: I’d like a sequel focused on Luna Lovegood’s experience following the Battle of Hogwarts. I always thought she was the most interesting character in the series (Harry included) and I’d love to see how she recovered from her family’s decimation and the rest of the fallout following Voldemort’s wrath.

Mea: I want a sequel that shows the story from Snape’s point of view. I also want Sirius to come out from the veil and to be alive. Same with Remus and Tonks. I want Lily and James Potter to come back, too. Soooooooooo… everyone that Voldemort killed directly comes back to life, appropriately aged so they don’t freak out their loved ones. That won’t help Neville, but his parents aren’t dead and he isn’t the boy who lived.

McKenzie: I would like to see Harry and Hermione have a tryst in the library — a fan fiction dream come true.

JeriAnn: Molly and Arthur Weasley are looking for a place to retire that’s far warmer than the English countryside. They stumble upon the alternate dimension known as Florida and when no one has heard from them for six weeks Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermoine go looking for them. Wackiness ensues when they find out that Arthur wants to buy a gator farm and Molly has put a hex on Donald Trump. Now we know why his hair looks that way!

Beth:
I know we were a part of Hermoine and Ron’s young love story, but I’d love a POV from either Hermoine or Ron on taking the relationship to the next level post-Voldemort life. Double dates with Harry and Ginny? Wizarding birthdays? I’d love to hear the whole magical love story!
